Biographical or historical data
The 9th Brigade, Virginia Militia, was commanded by Brigadier General Robert B. Taylor (1774-1834). It was called into the service of the United States during the War of 1812 and was stationed primarily around Norfolk, Virginia. Taylor commanded the Brigade until 17 April 1813, when he was superceded by Major General Wade Hampton (1752-1835), U.S. Army. In May, Hampton was ordered to Lake Champlain and Taylor again assumed command.
