A record of farms and their owners in lower parish of Nansemond County, Virginia, n.d., is a manuscript of the recollections of the author, William Turner Jordan (1835-1922) of Nansemond County, regarding the owners and inhabitants of various farms in that county. The manuscript was later published in 1968 by the Suffolk-Nansemond Historical Society. Also includes a letter, 11 April 1946, from J. H. Granbery (1873-1961) providing some corrections to the text

Biographical or historical data
William Turner Jordan was born 13 November 1835 in Nansemond County, Virginia, to William E. Jordan and Martha Jordan. Jordan was a physician in Nansemond County for his entire career. When the Civil War began, he enlisted in the 3rd Virginia Infantry. He married Amanda C. Arthur (1841-1900) 3 January 1861, and they had four children. Jordan died 14 March 1922 in Nansemond County, and was buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
