Biographical or historical data
The Whitehorne family was from Greensville and Sussex Counties, Virginia. William Whitehorn (d. 1844) was the father of Howel W. Whitehorne. James E. Whitehorne (1840-1914), son of Howel W. Whitehorne, served as captain with the 12th Virginia Infantry, Company F. After the war he worked as a dry goods merchant in Petersburg, Virginia, with George J. Morrison & Company. He was married to Emma J. Whitehorne (b. 1855) of Petersburg, Virginia.
