Biographical or historical data
Richard L. Brown was born about 1818 in Virginia. He served as a clerk for the United States government, but left that position to assume a similar one for the Confederate government when the Civil War began. He married Anne E. Middleton 17 July 1838 in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and they had six children.
