Biographical or historical data
Dandridge Spotswood (1787-1849) was born in Orange County, Virginia, and moved to Petersburg, Virginia. He served in the War of 1812. Dandridge Spotswood married Catherine Brooke Francisco (1801-1863) of Buckingham County, Virginia, 29 October 1818, and they had 10 children. Their son William Francisco Spotswood (1828-1895) and his wife Isabella Matoica Dunlop Spotswood (1848-1922) were the parents of Martha Dunlop Spotswood (1885-1981) who donated the papers to the Virginia State Library.
