Biographical or historical data
Dr. Andrew John Metz was born in Richmond, Virginia on 3 September 1923. He attended the Virginia Military Institute from 1941 to 1942, then enlisted in the United States Army on 16 November 1942. Metz served with the 305th Medical Batallion of the 80th Infantry Division. Following the war, he graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry, and then returned to Richmond where he operated a private practice.
