Benjamin Bates, son of Benjamin and Hannah Bates, was born 10 December 1769, and died 12 December 1812, in Hanover County, Virginia. He married 16 December 1793 at Cedar Creek Meeting House, Tace Crew, daughter of Micajah and Margaret Crew of Hanover County, Virginia.
