Biographical or historical data
Robert Sevier was born in 1749 near New Market, Virginia. He moved to what is now eastern Tennessee in 1773 and became active in the local militia and in politics. Sevier fought in the battle of King's Mountain, where he was wounded. Sevier died 16 October 1780 from the wound.
