Biographical or historical data
The Bondurant family was a well established family who owned "Variety Shade" plantation in Buckingham County, Virginia. Thomas M. Bondurant was born 26 May 1797 in Buckingham County, Virginia, to William Bondurant (1769-1803) and Judith Anne Moseley Bondurant (1772-1855). He served in the War of 1812. A planter in Buckingham County, Bondurant had a commission as colonel in the Buckingham militia. Bondurant also owned the Richmond Whig. He married Louisa Marcia Moseley (1799-1879) 19 November 1823, and they had seven children. Thomas Bondurant died 8 May 1862 in Buckingham County and was buried in the Bondurant family at Variety Shade.
