Contains a certificate of Henry Lithburn, late lieutenant on board the Page Galley, regarding the service of Charles Lewis, a black man, on board the galley as a marine during the Revolutionary War. Lithburn also states that Charles's brother Ambrose Lewis too served on board the same galley. The certificate is signed by A.W. Robert, alderman of Richmond City. The certificate is also signed by C. Copland, witness. Lastly, the certificates is signed by Charles Lewis as having received a certificate for 52 pounds, 15 shillings, and 6 pence for his service
