Biographical or historical data
Charles Quarles was born 13 May 1813 in Louisa County, Virginia. He became a doctor and had a successful practice, but felt called to become a Baptist minister. He was ordained 25 December 1854 at the Mechanicsville Church in Louisa County. Quarles became pastor of that church and also served as pastor for other congregations in the area. Quarles also farmed his property in Louisa County. He married Ellen Virginia Hunter (1826-1895) in December 1845, and they had two daughters. Quarles died 20 August 1881 in Louisa County.
