Summary
Biographical sketches and project lists of the core members of the Baltimore chapter of the AIA, compiled by Peter E. Kurtze in 1993. This accession consists of information gathered by the Historic Architects Roundtable of the Baltimore Architecture Foundation. The members compiled biographical sketches on the twenty-one original members of the Baltimore Chapter, American Institute of Architects. These sketches include biographies, correspondence, photographs, and a listing of the architects projects. Included in the twenty-one original members were Edmund G. Lind, architect of the Peabody Institute, Charles E. Cassell, John R. Niernsee, architect of the South Carolina State House, and Bruce Price. The second section of the volume consists of information gathered during a statewide inventory of pre-1945 architectural records in Maryland. The survey focused on identifying architectural records in institutional collections. Twelve institutes provided detailed lists, along with finding aids, of their architectural collections
