The Corn Cob Pipe Club was an outgrowth of the Edgeworth Frolic Night, which first broadcast over WRVA Radio in Richmond, Virginia on 25 February 1926 and featured a variety of entertainment and talent, including music and vaudeville routines. On 2 December 1928, it became the Corn Cob Pipe Club. On 2 December 1928, WRVA began broadcasting the Corn Cob Pipe Club on a weekly basis.
