Biographical or historical data
James Keith was born in Peterhead, Scotland in 1696. Forced to flee to Virginia after an abortive uprising, he returned to England and became and Episcopal minister. Keith returned to Virginia about 1727 and served as rector of a parish in Henrico County, Virginia. He later moved to Prince William County, Virginia, where he settled near what is now Warrenton, Virginia. Keith married Mary Isham Randolph about 1730 and they had eight children. Keith died by 25 June 1753.
