Biographical or historical data
Edmund Cowan was born in 1827 in Abbeville County, South Carolina, to Samuel and Jane Britt Cowan. Cowan served as a captain in Company G, 14th South Carolina Infantry. After the war, he was a farmer in Abbeville County. Cowan married Sarah Jane Jordan (1841-1917) 5 May 1857 and they had ten children. Edmund Cowan died in Abbeville County in 1894 and was buried in Lower Lon Cane Cemetery (now in McCormick County, South Carolina).
