Biographical or historical data
William Glover Stanard was born 2 October 1858 in Richmond, Virginia, to Robert C. Stanard and Virginia Cowan Stanard. He attended the College of William and Mary and Richmond College. Stanard worked as a reporter, historian, and genealogist. In 1898, he was elected corresponding secretary of the Virginia Historical Society and in that capacity edited the VIRGINIA MAGAZINE OF HISTORY AND BIOGRAPHY. Stanard married Mary Mann Page Newton (1857-1929) 7 April 1900, and they had no children. Standard died 6 May 1933 in Richmond, and was buried in Hollywood Cemetery.
