Biographical or historical data
William Glover Stanard (1858-1933) was born in Richmond, Virginia. He attended the College of William and Mary from 1876 to 1880 and became a reporter for the Richmond Whig. In 1898, Stanard was elected corresponding secretary and librarian of the Virginia Historical Society and editor of the Virginia Magazine of History and Biography. He was the recipient of the degree of LL.D from the College of William and Mary in 1915. He maintained an active research interest in Virginia history throughout his life.
