Biographical or historical data
James Muir was born in Scotland in 1757. He emigrated to the United States about 1790 and settled in Alexandria, Virginia. Fitzgerald served as minister of First Presbyterian Church in Alexandria for over thirty years. He also authored books on religion. Fitzgerald and his wife Elizabeth (ca. 1766-1831) had at least two children. Muir died in Alexandria 8 August 1820, and was buried at First Presbyterian.
