Military land grant, 23 April 1849, warrant number 8725 for 437 acres in Ohio to Allen Latham. The grant was originally issued on the Revolutionary War service of John Paul Jones (1747-1792) for his service in the Continental Navy and issued through an act, 1790, of Congress allowing officers of the Virginia Line to obtain lands in Ohio. Jones devised the rights to the warrant to Janette Taylor who assigned the warrant to Robert B. Bagby, who assigned it to Allen Latham

Biographical or historical data
Allen Latham (b. ca. 1792), a native of New Hampshire, settled in Chillicothe shortly before 1817 to practice law. In partnership with B.G. Leonard he established an agency for soldiers claims to land in Ohio. Latham married a daughter of Richard Clough Anderson (1750-1826) and became executor of his estate.
