Autobiography, 5 December 1767, of John Craig (1709-1774) a Presbyterian minister who lived in Augusta County, Virginia, recording his life as a minister of the Presbyterian Church, including his education, his journey to America, and his settlement in Augusta County. Craig discusses his ministry to the Donegal Presbytery in Pennsylvania and to Tinkling Springs Church in Augusta County. Autobiography includes religious reflections and sermons, including his sermon delivered when his connection with Tinkling Springs ended in November 1764

Biographical or historical data
Born 17 August 1709 in Ireland, John Craig received a degree from the College of Edinburg in Scotland in 1733. In 1734, he came to the New World and was licensed to preach by the Donegal Presbytery in 1737. In 1739, he answered a call to preach to the Presbyterians in the Shenandoah Valley and moved to Augusta County, Virginia, becoming the first minister of the Presbyterian congregation at Tinkling Spring. He died on 22 April 1774.
