Biographical or historical data
The Wilson family settled in Norfolk County, Virginia, and Currituck County, North Carolina, becoming prominent landowners in each county during the 18th and 19th centuries. James Wilson, Sr., (d. 1756) was a major in the militia and served as sheriff and magistrate of Norfolk County. James Wilson, Sr., (1742-1820) and Tatum Wilson (d. 1795) were brothers. Caleb Wilson (1771-1835) was the son of James Wilson.
