Biographical or historical data
Dr. Joseph Peterfield Trent was born on 19 March 1867 at "Little Dover" in Goochland County, Virginia. He was the son of Dr. William Reynolds Trent and Julia Lewis Royall. The family moved to Nottoway County, and then Roanoke. Trent then moved to Washington, D.C., where he worked for Southern Railroad. He then earned a medical degree at George Washington University in 1906. Dr. Trent practiced in Clinchport, Scott County, Virginia, where he met his wife, Hagan Pridemore (1874-1955). They were married on 28 June 1911, and later moved to Farmville in 1913, where Dr. Trent practiced medicine until his death. He died on 27 December 1937 from injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Fauquier County, Virginia on Christmas Day.
