Biographical or historical data
James H. Reid resided in Dumfries, Prince William County, Virginia, where he served as postmaster, deputy sheriff, and commissioner. He married Amy Ann Tolson. They later moved to Alexandria, where he served as clerk and then treasurer of the Orange, Alexandria and Manassas Railroad Company. Reid was living in Baltimore when he died on 19 May 1869 at the age of 65.
