Biographical or historical data
James Mason Brumfield was born in Princeton, West Virginia on 16 March 1920. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, and was stationed at the Naval Training Station in Great Lakes, Illinois, and then aboard the U.S.S. Watts and U.S.S. Stanly. He also served in Korea, and the Naval Reserve. He retired from the Navy after 38 years of service, and was a founder of the Naval Reserve Training Center in Staunton, Virginia. Brumfield was employed by DuPont in Waynesboro, Virginia from 1938 to 1981. He died in Staunton on 8 February 1997 and is buried in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.
