Biographical or historical data
James Webb was born in Essex County, Virginia on 12 May 1762. He was the son of James Webb (1734-1773) and Mary Smith (1734-1787). He married Dorothy Throckmorton on 22 July 1790. They resided first at "Harewood" in Essex County, and later at "Smithfield" in King and Queen County. He was an attorney. They had no children. He died in 1832.
