Biographical or historical data
John Flesher was born in Pendleton County, (West) Virginia on 17 February 1787. He was the son of Henry Fleisher (1758-1821) and Catherine Peninger (1762-1831). Flesher was a lieutenant in the 5th Virginia militia during the War of 1812. He married Mary Seybert (1785-1869) on 10 April 1805 in Highland County, Virginia. They moved to Fayette County, Ohio in 1835, and then to McLean County, Illinois in 1841. John Flesher died on 29 April 1863, and is buried in Scrogin Cemetery in Lexington, Illinois.
