Also included are several 19th-century family photographs and obituaries, an 1831 notice by William Johnson advertising a sale of some of his property, and a brief sketch tracing the genealogy of William Henry Seward (1801-1872), who was related to the family by marriage

Biographical or historical data
Major William Ashley Johnson (1794-1835) married Sallie Timberlake (1797-1865) on 18 August 1818. Both seem to have been born in or near Lynchburg (then part of Campbell County, Virginia) and later to have relocated to Highland County, Ohio. In 1831, the couple moved to LaFayette, Indiana. Major Johnson died there in 1835. Sallie Timberlake Johnson married John Obenshain (sometimes spelled Obenchain) in 1842. He died in 1864, and Sallie in 1865, both in LaFayette.
