Biographical or historical data
Colonel Isaac Bledsoe was born in Culpeper County, Virginia, about 1735. He married Katherine Montgomery about 1771. Bledsoe was one of the now famed "Long-hunters" and in that capacity became one of the first to explore the Cumberland Country. He removed to Sumner County, Tennessee, in 1780, where he served as a justice of the peace for both Sumner and Davidson Counties. Bledsoe was a first major in the Davidson County Militia and died in Sumner County while fighting Indians on 9 July 1793.
