Biographical or historical data
Beverley Randolph was born 11 September 1753 at "Chatsworth" in Henrico County, Virginia, to Peter Randolph (1717-1767) and Lucy Bolling Randolph (b. 1719). He attended the College of William and Mary, graduating in 1771. A lawyer, he served as a member of the House of Delegates from 1777 to 1781. He was president of the council in 1787 and was governor of Virginia from 1788 to 1791. Randolph married Martha Cocke of York County, Virginia, 14 February 1775, and they had at least 1 child. Randolph died at his home "Green Creek" in Cumberland County, Virginia, in February 1797.
