Summary
Letters, 7 July 1862, from N[?].W.P. and his sister-in-law S.W.P. to S.W.P.'s mother and sisters in Maryland describing life in Petersburg, Virginia, in the aftermath of the Peninsular Campaign and the Seven Days' Battles. N.W.P. comments on the prosperity of the area, notes that the Union army has been defeated, and mentions the number of high-ranking prisoners captured. S.W.P. sends news about the family, and social news. Both N.W.P. and S.W.P. comment on the excellent battlefield performance of S.W.P.'s husband, a lieutenant colonel in the Confederate Army. N.W.P.'s letter contains a postscript, 10 September 1862, stating that he is trying to get the letters delivered to Maryland
