Biographical or historical data
Lewise Overton Cosby was born on 18 July 1914 in Louisa, Virginia. She was the daughter of Lewis Johnson Cosby and Sadie Francisco. She graduated from Louisa High School, and earned a degree in education from Fredericksburg State Teachers College. Cosby owned and operated the Louisa Insurance Agency until 1971, and also served as editor and co-publisher of The Central Virginian newspaper. She was a charter member of the Louisa County Historical Society, former treasurer of the Louisa Court House Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, member of the Mineral Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and a member and former treasurer of the Society of the Descendants of Peter Francisco. Cosby died on 6 November 1984 and is buried in Hillcrest Cemetery in Louisa.
