Biographical or historical data
Llewellyn Tucker Flippen was born in Richmond, Virginia on 8 July 1933, and was raised in Crewe, Virginia. He was a graduate of the University of Richmond, where he was active in his fraternity, the Kappa Alpha Order. He was also a graduate of the Medical College of Virginia (now Virginia Commonwealth University) School of Dentistry. Following his service as a captain in the U.S. Air Force Dental Corps, he practiced dentistry in Richmond until his retirement. Dr. Flippen died in Richmond on 28 July 2009.
