There is also a deed, 19 November 1803, to John Dabney from Samuel J. Harrison, who was indebted to and thus a lienee of Payne, for 1/4 of an acre in Lynchburg. The deed also includes the names of three slaves deeded from Harrison to Dabney. Recorded in Campbell County Deed Book No. 6, page 478. Also contains a deed, 13 June 1806, to Payne from William and Elizabeth Bradley of Cumberland County for a tract of land in Campbell County. Recorded in the 1806 Campbell County Deed Book on page 459

Biographical or historical data
Philip Payne was born 29 March 1760, the son of John and Jean Smith Payne of Virginia. He married Elizabeth Dandridge (1764-1833), daughter of Nathaniel West and Dorothea Spotswood Dandridge, on 13 November 1783. Payne died on 7 July 1840.
