Biographical or historical data
Joseph Sutton (1764-1823) resided in Caroline County, Virginia. He married Judith Carter (1769-1827) 3 March 1785, and they had children, including Dr. Stephen Sutton (1786-1840). Stephen Sutton married Eliza Morris Oliver (1800-1867) 30 May 1816, and they had children, including David Sutton (d. 1892), who became a doctor and eventually moved to Lexington, Mississippi; Armistead Oliver Sutton, who was the father of Pulaski Scott Sutton (1847-1902) and Cadwallader Lewis Sutton (1845-1910); Stephen Carter Sutton (1822-1880), who married Emily Columbia Covington; Pulaski Sutton (b. 1824); and Elvira Maria Sutton (1829-1857). The Suttons resided at Towinque, which Dr. Stephen Sutton purchased in 1818.
