Biographical or historical data
Robert Rose was born about 1704 in Scotland. He became a minister in the Anglican Church and emigrated to Virginia. His first parish was St. Anne's in Essex County, Virginia, and he moved to Albemarle County, Virginia, in 1749. Rose was a popular and prominent minister in Virginia during his life. He married twice, and had a daughter by his first wife. He married second Ann Fitzhugh and they had four sons. Rose died in Richmond, Virginia, 30 June 1751, and was buried at St. John's Church.
