Summary
Lost Records Localities Collection, 1674-1894, is an ongoing collection of copies of various types of court records found in sources other than the place of origin. Comprised mainly of records for which the locality originals are severely damaged, missing, or have now been destroyed, these are often the only remaining copies of the material. Usually these items were found in court suits and were exhibits in the cases being tried. The collection consists primarily of deeds, wills, estate and marriage records for Virginia localities whose records have been lost to fire, war, neglect, pests, or natural disaster
