These records contain plats and descriptions of tracts surveyed in the area granted the Loyal Company by the colonial Council. The land originally was located in the counties of Augusta, Botetourt, and Fincastle. These surveys evidently were not carried into grants. Each survey is filed in a separate folder labeled with the name of the individual for whom the survey was made, the county in which the land was located, the date of the survey, its acreage, and the number of items in the folder
