  • Arthur Alexander Morson Payne, a planter and horse breeder, was born 23 February 1804 at "Clifton," Fauquier County, Virginia to William and Marion Andrew (Morson) Payne. He married (1) Mary Conway Mason Fitzhugh, 27 January 1829, in Fauquier County, Virginia, and (2) Mary McGeorge Hume, 24 November 1843, in Fauquier County, Virginia. In 1835, Arthur moved to Mississippi and lived there two years before returning to Fauquier County, Virginia. In 1856, he moved to Boone County, Missouri, where he died on 3 April 1868.
  • William Payne was born on 31 March 1755 in Westmoreland County. As a youth, he was an assistant to his uncle Daniel Payne, who operated a mercantile business in Falmouth. William Payne was captain of a militia company in Westmoreland County, and was present at the seige of Yorktown. He married Susannah Richards on 11 April 1779. She died in 1795. They had three children: Frances S. S., Daniel, and John R. William Payne moved to Fauquier County in 1799. He then married Marion Andrew Morson Love on 19 April 1801. They settled at "Clifton" in Fauquier County, and also had three children: Marion M. M., Arthur A. M., and Eliza A. He died on 19 September 1837.
