Biographical or historical data
Margaret Haley Carpenter was born 30 June 1917 in Louisa County, Virginia, to Charles R. Carpenter and Nana Rosa Cooke Carpenter. She attended Maury High School in Norfolk, Virginia, and Westhampton College at the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia. Carpenter taught in Norfolk schools from 1938 to 1958. She wrote poetry, a biography of Sara Teasdale, and children's books. Carpenter died in Norfolk 12 May 1985.
