Martha P. Alfriend was born in 1813. She married Robert Henry Branch (1812-1895) on 3 December 1835. They resided in Dinwiddie County, Virginia, where he was a schoolteacher. He later worked in the stagecoach office of James M. Boyd in Richmond.
