Biographical or historical data
Martin V. B. Phelps was born in New York 6 March 1840. He moved with his family to Bradford County, Pennsylvania, and worked on his family's farm. Phelps enlisted in Company E, 141st Pennsylvania Infantry 6 August 1862 and was discharged 6 June 1865. After the Civil War, Phelps returned to Bradford County and farmed. He died 22 February 1893 and was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Burlington Township, Pennsylvania.
