Biographical or historical data
George Calvert was born about 1715 in Stafford County, Virginia. By the American Revolution, he was living at the "Horse Shoe" in Culpeper County, Virginia. In 1781, with the British invasion into Virginia, Governor Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826) appointed him a captain in the Culpeper County militia. Calvert married first Ann Crupper, and they had six children. He married second Mary Strother Deatheridge, and they had one child. Calvert died in Culpeper County 19 May 1782.
