Summary
Contains miscellaneous correspondence filed separate from the letters received of the Auditor of Public Accounts. This correspondence mostly relates to the settlement of accounts between the Auditor of Public Accounts (Morton Marye and C. Lee Moore) and treasurers, etc., in several localities who were indebted to the Commonwealth. Included are accounts of James L. Arthur, Treasurer of Bedford County; L.C. Arthur, Treasurer of Bedford County; William G. Miller, Treasurer of Rappahannock County; John C. Gray, Treasurer of Washington County; H.R. Burger, Treasurer of Botetourt County; W.R. Millan, Sheriff of Fairfax County; and Robert S. Quarles, Clerk of Bedford County. In addition, there are paid bills from W.F. Smyth, State Accountant, for the audit of county and city offices between 1920 and 1923. These files include correspondence from C. Lee Moore or John T. Sale as Acting Auditor of Public Accounts to the Board of Supervisors of various localities showing the amount due to the Treasurer of Virginia. Lastly, there is a list of capitation taxes for Cumberland County in 1916. This list provides a list of persons certified on voting lists which have not been accounted for by the Treasurer of Cumberland County
