Minor and William Burke to sell Frances Burke to her father, William Burke, and mother, Margaret Burke; letters, dated 12 December 1869, 13 December 1869, 19 December 1869, 3 January 1870, and 9 January 1870, from Frances J. Burke, Alexandria, to her brother Willie Burke, Washington, D.C., sending family news and offering sisterly advice; letter, 18 August 1908, from a father in Mecklenburg County, Virginia, to his daughter, neither identified, sending family and personal news; recommendation, 30 August 1907, for Fitz Albert Sealy (b. ca. 1881) from the Ancient Order of Foresters; a certificate of naturalization, 3 April 1924, for Fitz Albert Sealy of New Haven, Connecticut; and a biographical sketch of Margaret Burke of Fairfax County and Alexandria. The Burkes were a prominent African American family living in Fairfax County, Virginia, and Alexandria, Virginia. Margaret (1822-1896) married William Burke (ca. 1813-1883). They had at least two children, Frances J. Burke and Willie Burke. Willie Burke and his wife Florence had three children, Bessie Payne, Viola, and William Tilman. Bessie Payne Burke probably married Fitz Albert Sealy (b. ca. 1881) who emigrated from Trinidad.
