Flippin of Cumberland County, providing information on the Randolph family in and around Cumberland County, including those who resided at Bizarre and Chelloe, and recommended other individuals to contact for more information. Dabney replies on the reverse of Flippin's letter, 24 May 1888, to him. Flippin forwarded Carperter's letter, not found, to Dabney

Biographical or historical data
William Pope Dabney was born 15 November 1829. He was appointed first notary public in Cumberland County, Virginia, on a commission by the governor in 1852. He represented Cumberland and Powhatan Counties in the Virginia House of Delegates from 1855 to 1858. Dabney was a private in Company E, 4th Virginia Infantry during the Civil War. He practiced law in both Cumberland and Powhatan Counties. At the time of his death, Dabney was judge of the Powhatan County court. He died in Powhatan County 3 March 1894.
