First broadcast during National Education Week in November 1951, Our Schools At The Crossroads was a weekly WRVA Radio series featuring panel discussions of problems facing the modern public school system. The program, which aired with the cooperation of the Virginia Congress of Parents and Teachers and the Virginia Education Association, was usually moderated by WRVA announcer Sam Carey (1915-1994). Panelists included school principals, teachers, parents, school board members, state legislators, state Department of Education staff, college professors and administrators, and leaders of local civic, professional, and recreational clubs.
