Biographical or historical data
Philip Carter Hawkins was born on 10 June 1861 in McGaheysville, Rockingham County, Virginia. He was the son of William G. Hawkins and Frances Leap. Hawkins was a mortician, and operated funeral homes in Elkton, McGaheysville, and Shenandoah. He married Mrs. Elizabeth Dean on 8 December 1933. P. C. Hawkins died at his home on 10 December 1951 and is buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville.
