Papers, 1859-1877, of Ebenezer Thompson Baird while serving as editor of the CHILDREN’S FRIEND, a newspaper published by the Presbyterian Committee of the Publication in Richmond, Virginia. Includes correspondence concerning subscriptions to the CHILDREN’S FRIEND, the purchase of books from the Presbyterian board, financial support of young men studying to become Presbyterian ministers. Correspondence also contains requests for information, articles, and religious tracts. Many of these letters include references to money enclosed for copies of the CHILDREN’S FRIEND and other publications. Other papers include testimony and letters concerning Baird’s misappropriation of church funds for personal use
