William Bell (d. 1780) of Orange County, Virginia, and John Bell (d. 1804) of Caroline County, Virginia, were apparently brothers. William Bell married and had seven children. John Bell apparently had no children. One of their nephews was Henry Cave, who was the ancestor of Mrs. E. E. Evens of Columbia, Missouri, who provided the materials in the collection.
