The Robinsons were a prominent Richmond, Virginia, family. Col. Charles S. Morgan was superintendent of the State Penitentiary until his death in 1859 and his grandson, Morgan P. Robinson, was State Archivist. They were connected to the Morgan family of Monongalia County, West Virginia.
